📖 Our Story
NOVA News started with a simple idea from a curious 12-year-old.
Aiden Gao, a Year 7 student from Australia, wanted a better way to stay on top of the news — something that actually connected to what he was learning at school, written in a way that didn't feel like homework. So he built it himself. Over a single weekend, Aiden spent 20 hours turning that idea into a real, working website.

The result is NOVA News: a learning platform that takes real, verified news stories from around the world and connects them directly to the Australian school curriculum. Every article is matched to a subject, every story is written to spark curiosity, and every question you answer earns a reward. Learning that doesn't feel like learning.

Most news is written for adults. Most study apps feel like homework. NOVA News is neither — it's curriculum-matched, age-appropriate news that rewards reading and thinking with a character collection system that makes coming back actually fun.

A score on the community board with no member account behind it. This is
what the 23 fake high scores were, and it is also why a second
“Aiden G.” appeared: an old admin button wrote to a document named
after the person instead of their account id. Nothing can create one of
these any more — this is only here to clear out what was left behind.

If a row is stuck on an older figure, this resets every row to what
that member actually has right now.
These are saved to the database, so they stay put when you refresh
and they apply to every member straight away. If a switch cannot be
saved it will flip back and tell you — it never pretends.
